Alan Olson |
 |
Alan Olson owns a Financial Planning firm in Northern Virginia, Olsinvest Financial (www.olsinvestfinancial.com). He started out racing small go-karts at a local indoor facility
with a few of his neighbors and friends. One of his friends suggested that he try some real racing as he was taking a school at the local SCCA Club Track.
Alan began his racing in 2005 after completing the SCCA Racing School at Summit Point Motorsports Park. In his rookie year he had finished 6th in points in MARRS – Mid Atlantic Road Racing Series. He was also nominated for Rookie of the Year in 2005.
2006 brought the beginning of Weekend Warrior Racing. Alan took the year off of racing for MARRS series points and made trips to race at Daytona, Fl. and Beaverun in PA. Since he was a young man he always dreamed of Road Racing at Daytona. In his first ever race there, he would qualify 19th out of 69 cars and finish the race in 6th. The following weekend at BeaveRun in PA., he would qualify on the Pole for both races and win both races! Later in the year, Alan began racing a few races with NASA – National Auto Sport Association, with several wins and 2nd place finishes there.
Later in 2006, Alan took up new cause, racing for a cure for ALS. ALS (see www.alsinfo.org/aboutals.html) is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Alan’s brother-in-law was diagnosed with this cruel disease for which there is no cure. Alan would start from the back, giving up his qualifying position (once on the Pole) of his race group and collect money from fellow racers for each car he would pass. It proved to be a great fundraiser for the ALS Association. All Weekend Warrior Racing cars will now have the ALS Association banner on the hood and we will continue to raise money and awareness at each event we attend.

Evan Gay |
 |
While cars and racing always interested Evan in his childhood, it was not until his senior year of College at James Madison University where Evan was involved with the school's motorsports club that Evan would finally discover the information for entry into the elusive hobby. While still in school (read: poor) Evan worked as a corner official (flagger) for the National Autosport Association Virgia region. It was here that Evan had his first on-track experience - in the passenger seat of well known local (and national) racer Payton Wilson's old Porsche 911. Upon graduation (read: job) Evan bought a Subaru WRX and immediately put it to good use, taking part in a few Autocrosses as the 'gateway drug' then the NASA on-track Drivers Education program. After rising the ranks of the Drivers Education program, Evan took the Competition Licensing school using a friends car and was immediately hooked on racing and set to work to build his street miata into a Spec Miata racecar.
Evan's rookie season 2006 started out with a bang as he took pole position in a snowy race at Virginia International Raceway and led from flag to flag in the first race of the season. Evan went on to collect 3 victories, 11 podiums, 7 Pole Positions, and set a new track record on his way to winning the championship in the competitive Spec Miata class.
For Evan's Sophmore year in racing, he is excited to race with Alan under the Weekend Warrior Racing banner to promote ALS awareness. Evan is not contesting the regional nasa championship this year, but aims for the Nasa National championship at Mid Ohio SportsCar Course in September.
